Lunch or coffee near Amsterdam side of campus

Where's the best place to get lunch or cofee near Jerome Greene Hall or anywhere near 114-118th on the east side of campus? On or off campus options? Seems to be costing a fortune at Hamilton Deli.

The Hungarian Pastry Shop...there is no competition in my book. For lunch, you can pick up a sandwich next door and bring over to the cafe.

On Amsterdam & 121st, Panino Sportivo has decent sandwiches and a little further up Max Cafe & Kitchenette Uptown are great lunch spots.

Kitchenette is kind of expensive for the everyday. If you want a sandwich, go to Subsconscious. on the east side of Amsterdam up by 120th. If you want pizza, there is pizza right next door (the name is eluding me at this point). Also if you cross the street to the main campus and go in the gate that leads up to St. Paul's chapel, there is a cafe in the basement of Avery, which is directly to the north of St. Paul's, with the entrance on the west side of the building. They serve a good variety of foods for a decent price (it's not part of the CU dining scheme). Oh, and there is cafe in SIPA that serves pretty good coffee.

The faculty house Garden Cafe on the 3rd floor serves reasonably priced meals a la carte style.

I concur about Hungarian Pastry Shop -- the coffee is delicious and it is free to refill your cup. The next-door P&W Sandwich Shop has great food, and the service is personal, if at time belabored. I recommend the seedless baguettes. Their egg whites are also uncommonly good. Strokos is not terrible, especially with the redecorating. They have the best parfaits in the neighborhood, but make sure to grab them early in the day -- by evening time the granola gets mushy.

Appletree has the best pretzels around -- Biegel & Biegel. Go on, give them a try. They are baked, not fried, and are studded with sesame seeds. Only 140 calories per serving size. It is filling enough for a meal, without the associated guilt and self-hatred. Appletree also has Diet A&W Root Beer, the taste of which is indistinguishable from Regular Root Beer. I also enjoy the glass-bottled Newman's Own flavored seltzer water at the Market. Fantastic touch, guys. Finally, I would recommend the Odwalla Super Protein bars, which are tasty as heck and healthy to boot.
