The conventional stereotype has always been that the democrats are the tax and spend group who favor big government and the republicans are the "keep government small bunch". Yet when you look at the last 20 years, it seems the government has grown bigger than ever under republican administrations. In fact every year of republican control has resulted in deficits and growing debt. Under republican control not only has debt grown but it has grown as a percentage of GDP. The only time in recent memory we experienced a surplus has been under the Clinton administration. This is the only time where debt has fallen as a percentage of GDP. As soon as the Bush administration took office the trend reversed again and debt started skyrocketing. Last month it exceeded $10 trillion dollars for the first time.
Yet despite that you see McCain labeling Obama as a tax and spend democrat in the debates. How do the republicans get away with this? Why doesn't Obama demonstrate through visuals how much of a farse that label is?
Are there any Christian student organizations active at TC or Columbia?
Where is the best place to live as a Sophomore?
Where is the best place for girls to get a stylish hair cut near campus?
Where's the best place to get lunch or cofee near Jerome Greene Hall or anywhere near 114-118th on the east side of campus? On or off campus options? Seems to be costing a fortune at Hamilton Deli.
What's the best place to get a haircut?
How does fall check-in work for non-first years? I'm a rising sophomore that lives on the other side of the country and have to buy my plane ticket before the prices rise. Any information would be deeply appreciated.
Where's the nearest Dental office (from Columbia) that's good in teeth cleaning?
What is a good GPA or range of GPAs for a graduate course? I did my bachelors degree overseas and have no sense of what is the line between "just ok" and "good". I'm interested in when it becomes "very good" too but mainly what is "good".
Hi, How can I change the random automatic password I got? Thanks
Does anyone know the name of the custom apparel company started by a few Ivy League guys? They go to various schools and measure you for well priced custom made suits, shirts, etc...
Koronet Pizza
A little anecdote: When I was an undergrad at Columbia, my friends and I used to practically live on the Koronet jumbo slices. After a while, the owners knew our "standard" order (jumbo slice + peach Snapple), that it was enough for us to come in and put $3.25 on the counter for them to know exactly what we wanted; no words exachanged.
Hello, I'm looking for a female graduate student who's interested in sharing an apartment for the coming academic year. Around Columbia area would be nice, but also considering Flushing or Sunnyside area. Please email me if you're looking for the same. Thanks!
Does anybody know if there is a darkroom in the area that rents out time slots for developing photos?
