  • Bio Book 7th Edition by Campbell and Reece for sale 0 Comment(s)

I have a bio book (title- BIOLOGY) for sale (Bio 113 and 114). Can't sell it back to the book stores because its the 7th edition and they only take the 8th edition.  But if your looking to save like 100 dollars just get the older edition, it is almost exactly the same, with all the same information.  Book is good as new, some highlighting in the first few chapters but otherwise it's in great condition.  I'm asking for $50, but let me know what you're willing to pay.

  • "Listen To The Silence" Asian American issues Conference 0 Comment(s)

    When: Saturday, January 24, 2009, 8:30am - 11:00pm

    Where: Stanford Cubberley Auditorium

The Listen to the Silence Conference is in its 13th year at Stanford and was established by the Stanford Asian American Students' Association (AASA) as a venue for discussing and displaying issues affecting the API and related communities.

LTS is a day-long series of workshops put on by current college students as well as a multitude of community based organizations and affiliates. Henry Der--recent inductee to the Stanford Colored Hall of Fame and previous executive director for SF based Chinese Affirmative Action for over 20 years--will be giving the keynote address. At lunch, there is the opportunity to connect with students and organizations currently researching and aiding the needs of the API Community. The day culminates in a much anticipated concert. Past shows have included such artists and performing groups as the Ken Oak Band, Kiwi, Ill-Literacy, Delicious Venom and Magnetic North.

All events are free and open to the public. Register now at aasa.stanford.edu.

For more information or questions, please contact the co-chairs of LTS: Susan Chen (slchen88@stanford.edu) or Lilian Thaoxochay (lilctx@stanford.edu).

  • Obama and the Economy 2 Comment(s)

I recently went to an Anne Coulter speech where she suggested that the economy is not nearly in as much peril as the media is portraying it to be in. Her theory is that the media is saying the economy is really in much worse shape than it is so that when Obama comes into the office and fixes the issues with the economy it will be a miracle, and he can finally complete his comparison to Jesus Christ or Abraham Lincoln that so many people have been offering. The economy is on the rebound; the Dow has stabilized around 8500, Mortgage rates have fallen to a 4 year low at an average of 5.47% the lowest since March 25, 2004, when it averaged 5.40%. The bailouts have succeeded in preventing a credit crunch and the economy is on its slow way to crawling out of the recession. It's all primed for Obama to swoop in and take all the credit as savior of the American people.

  • Publicize your resume! 3 Comment(s)

For those applying for full-time jobs, the hardest part is standing out amongst the piles of resumes. Instead of trying to get an interview that way, you could try what a woman in CA did: stand outside wearing her resume T-shirt and try to get noticed. You could say she was trying to get her resume off her chest. Literally.

With the unemployment rate steadily rising and people losing jobs everywhere, it's hard enough to find a job. Maybe the only or best way to get attention is through these types of innovating methods of selling yourself.
