Dining dollars come with the meal plan and can be used at the food places, i.e. Hotung, the Commons, Brown 'n Brew, etc. Points are added at machines or at the bookstore and are used for laundry, and purchases at the bookstore or food places. BUT NOT VENDING MACHINES

Dining dollars are part of your meal plan, and they can only be used at food locations like the campus center and brown and brew, etc. They roll over at the semester but expire at the end of the year. Points are an added thing, and you can add as many points as you want at any time. They can be used for food or for other things like at the bookstore. They roll over every semester and every year, and at the end of your senior year, if you have enough left, you can be reimbursed if you request.

Dining Dollars can only be used to purchase meals at Dewick or Carms, food at the campus center or brow and brew, and from the restaurants on points (can be found on tuftslife.com). Points can be used in all the previously mentioned locations as well as at the bookstore, in the campus center for tickets, and Jumbo Express. Dining Dollars CANNOT be used at the bookstore. Unused Dining Dollars carry over from Fall semester to Spring but then expire if unused. Points carry from Freshman year through Senior year. Essentially Dining Dollars are a weaker version of points that are only bundled with meal plans ensuring the school makes more money for unused Dining Dollars year by year unlike points.

Points (Plus) can be used as cash anywhere on campus. Points can pay for things at the bookstore, for example but Dining Dollars can't. Dining dollars can be used at the dining halls, hodgdon, campus center (except i think the res only takes points plus), the tower, brown and brew, jumbo. Both can be used for ordering mops (merchants on points for delivery). So, the biggest differences are being able to use points at places like the bookstore, and the way that they carry over.

In addition to all of the above, note that dinning dollars and points plus are all referred to as "points" by those who work the registers at Hogdon, the Campus Center, and Brown and Brew. When they ask "Cash or points?" points means either points or dinning dollars.

See tomorrow's Daily article on the front page. Apparently they're thinking about combining the two--relieving us of all this confusion.
