Porterfield Tire on Mitchell Bridge does general mechanical stuff and is extremely professional and friendly. As far as I know their workmanship is top-notch.

My dad is a car nut and coming from Virginia he found someone he can trust early on. I've been taking my car to Travis Butler at Butler's Automotive in Five Points for four years and haven't had a problem.

I go to the Tires Plus near the 29/72 interchange on the NE side of town. They do a decent job, and being a little more out of the way, are usually less busy than the other locations. User:NBtarheel 33(NBtarheel_33) 01:39, 25 April 2007 (EDT)

I don't remember the name of the place, but there is a garage across from Bottleworks on Prince (between Childs St. and Barber St.) that has done a couple of repairs for me. They were efficient and inexpensive. Once, they even came to pick me up from my house when my car wouldn't start -- at no extra charge! I have a relative who normally does my car repairs when I'm home, and he said that what they have charged me is terrific and that they do top-notch work.
Before I found this place, I did go to the Tires Plus on College Station (next to La Fiesta) and got totally ripped off. It's my own ignorance (I had to have relatives tell me later), but I've heard of someone else that had a similar experience there.

I work at the Wal-Mart on Epps Bridge in the Automotive section, we do oil changes, batteries, and tire work. One of the guys that I work with used to work at Porterfield and he said that they are a rip off.
