Dentist

Hi, does anyone have a recommendation of a good, yet affordable dentist in the area?

Dr. Helms: Sensitive Care Dentistry

I see a great dentist in Milford - Dr. Helms at Sensitive Care Dentistry. It is a bit of a hike but well worth it. They do not give a student discount, but bill out to many kinds of insurance.

Dr. Skope: St. Raphael's

Hey there! I know of a good oral surgeon. I don't know if he does normal dentistry stuff or not, but it's worth a try. His name is Dr. Skope and he is across from St. Raphael's hospital. His number is 203 865 0807. Otherwise, I know DUH has a list of close dentists that are happy working with students! Hayley

Laurence B. Gormley

I've been pleased with Laurence B. Gormley at 111 Park Street, Suite 1-B (203) 562-5101. Only two fairly routine visits so far, but no complaints. Jason

After a third visit, I've decided I won't go back to Gormley's office. It turned out the dentist was on vacation on the day I was scheduled, so I only saw the hygienist. I don't think the dentist office should schedule appointments when the Dentist won't be in. The hygienist was also not so gentle on this visit. I complained of some tooth pain, which she told me I shouldn't worry about, but which later turned out to be a cavity. Not sure if a dentist would have made a different diagnosis, but the whole thing left me unimpressed.

Dr. Lee: DUH

I had a cavity filled recently, and I was referred by DUH to Dr. Lee (100ish York St., 203.865.0105). He saw me the same day, and he did a great job. Andrew

Jack Levine

Stay Away from someone named Jack Levine. He's on Orange street, pricey and not entirely forthright when it comes to billing the insurance company. Anon

After a couple visits, I've found Jack Levine to be an excellent dentist. He and his staff are extremely professional. The office has a vaguely 'alternative wellness' feel to it. For example, the dentist had me do a breathing exercise before injecting Novocaine. I actually found it somewhat helpful, though I can imagine not really appreciating this sort of thing. In any case, Levine is far more attentive and less distracted than Laurence Gormley, who I previously recommended. Can't speak to the problems with insuranc
