Windmills take energy out of the air - kinetic energy. This means that the air actually cools down slightly whenever a windmill is in operation.

Normally the heat would be released back into the atmosphere when the energy gets used.

But if we use that energy to shoot a laser beam into space, maybe we could remove some of it from our closed system.
