  • Solar and Wind Energy Research at Yale 0 Comment(s)

Is anybody out there besides me interested in getting more solar and wind energy research underway at Yale? Is anybody actually doing any such research? Can we build some sort of a network? Can we start a group? Let\'s get the ball rolling. You can e-mail me at amittai aviram a t yale d o t edu -- Amittai Aviram.

Windmills take energy out of the air - kinetic energy. This means that the air actually cools down slightly whenever a windmill is in operation.

Normally the heat would be released back into the atmosphere when the energy gets used.

But if we use that energy to shoot a laser beam into space, maybe we could remove some of it from our closed system.

  • French Language Magazine 0 Comment(s)

We are looking for a Managing Editor, a Literary Editor, an Art Editor, and a Layout Editor for Yale's new French magazine, L'Amuse-Bouche. A brief description of each position follows:

Managing Editor: This editor will interface with the Editor-in-Chief in making sure that all articles are edited in a timely fashion and in working out the logistics of the publication. In addition, the managing editor is responsible for contributing two original pieces to the magazine.

Literary Editor : This editor will work closely with the Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief to oversee the creative submissions to the journal, including brainstorming interesting topics and assigning these subjects to writers. He or she will also be required to submit at least two pieces (preferably of different genres).

Layout Editor-in-Chief : This editor will be responsible for designing the layout of the journal as well as supervising others who are working on the structure of the publication. While an interest and proficiency in French is a plus, we are really looking for someone who has experience in the formatting of publications.

Art Editor : This editor will submit original drawings to the journal that complement the written submissions and will hopefully recruit the artwork of others.

If you are interested in any of the above positions, please contact Jonathan.Berken@yale.edu ASAP.

<< "Tech Impact @ Yale" (Issue of spring, 2008) >> Access at: http://www.yale.edu/ybps/technologylicensing/TechImpact2008Mar16.pdf

Intellectual property (IP) is a key asset in any technology business venture. Changes in IP policy both in the U.S. and abroad are reshaping business strategies in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Competition over IP rights is as fierce as ever, but opportunities for cooperation are also being created through new non-profit pharmaceutical endeavors that hope to make medicines accessible to thousands in the developing world who suffer from infectious disease. Read about IP, entrepreneurship success stories, and more in the current issue of "Tech Impact @ Yale."

  • Best place to get a haircut 0 Comment(s)

Here's how other users of this wiki answered the question "What's the best place to get a haircut?":

    My house

    Glitter

Wait until you get home. It's probably cheaper

Your room North Haven Academy - it is a Paul Mitchel Training Salon and you can get a haircut for a little as $5 and highlights for as little as $30. You are taking a slight risk, but it has always worked out good for me.

    Karma

    The Workshop--Deva Curl

Whatever you do don't go to the haircut place next to Slifka. They are absolutely terrible... don't be fooled by the pictures of the Bushes on the wall. I received the absolute worst haircut of my life there, and I don't even care that much how my hair looks. I could have done it better myself...

for girls: if you have to do it while you're at yale, get it cut at panache. they're expensive (around $50 a cut), but pretty good.

  • Hartford airport 2 Comment(s)

I have a flight that leaves from the Hartford airport at 5:50 am on Sat the 15th of December. This is before CT limo starts running. I'd like to leave around 3 am; does anyone a) know of an alternate economical method of getting to the airport at this hour or b) find yourself in a (very) similar situation and want to share a cab?
